Hidden Voices' purpose is to facilitate community art making and showcase the artwork of Las Vegas, Nevada's homeless, working homeless and formerly homeless community
Our mission is to serve Las Vegas' houseless community by creating spaces for creative expression. We seek to share the valuable perspective the houseless community and bring attention to he remarkable talent and value this community has to offer Las Vegas.
Create a web-based and tangible publication to voice opinions, concerns, hopes, desires, and to document the life and identity of the houseless community in Las Vegas. These publications are always free and available to the public.
Hidden Voices started in April 2020. Its origins began in Fall 2019, as a weekly art group at CARE Complex. CARE Complex is a local non-profit in the heart of Foremaster St. which serves the houseless community through a variety of valuable services. Former UNLV social work grad student, and current social worker, Kacey Kim, began the weekly art groups by providing art supplies and creating space each week for an hour to for the houseless community to make art.
- Hidden Voices continues to partner with our community partner, CARE Complex, as a sign is placed upon their building that gives both our contact information and call for artists to submit their artwork.
We are completely self-funded by donations! This is a publication for the people by the people. If you are able, please spread the word about this publication, encourage others to donate and if you have the ability, please donate to our GoFundMe (link listed above).
